I'm just a normal girl crazy in love with my Husband George, love to travel and eat... and usually fail at losing and keeping weight off... We never wanted kids of our own but we adore our nieces and nephews. We are also huge movie buffs who enjoy going to advanced screenings to see most movies before they're released. My life is fun.... Full of family and friends and a while lot of laughs.

Yesterday, The Chocolate Won!!!!!!!
Well, Yesterday... The Chocolate won! Maybe my TOM is coming, maybe I'm more stressed than usual, Maybe it's because I was at the Gyno while he stuffed me full of anything he could find like I was Mary Poppins bag... Whatever it was, The Chocolate Won Which hopefully makes me a loser. I was eating the random chocolate... Yes, Random, This wasn't Godiva, Dove, Ghiradelli, or my favorite...until I got to the Reeses' Cups. I love Reese's cups, I love peanut butter and chocolate together, actually. As I think over the day, I think of some of e the ideas in Geneen Roth's book I'm reading about Depriving yourself. If I had had my favorite, maybe I could have had just one... but I don't keep chocolate around for obvious reasons so I was stuck with hubby's favorites. Each one I checked in my myfitnesspal so I was aware of the empty calories. I knew to stay away from the reeses so I had a funsize twix. Which should have been enough but I was unsatisfied still so I had some reese's pieces which were yummy but not enough. I stay under the full serving size because some how if the itea ends up under 100 calories It's not that bad... I had some goobers and I still had to get to the actual reese's cups and there's were a 1/2 serving wasn't enough... I ended up at like 500 extra empty calories, so like 1500 calories for the day. If I had started with the one I lusted after instead of messing around settling... I could have only had 200 extra empty calories, which would have kept me on track. And Reese's cups at least have 5 grams of protein, see I'm still trying to justify it...I am not going to beat myself up over this... I have a new day in my chocolate-stained hands and I'm going to make it work for me. We all have days when the Chocolate wins, right?

Do you know what, I don't think it was so bad, you should be congratulated for stopping at 500 cals which isn't really that much chocolate, I think that I would inhale much much more!
ReplyDeleteWell done.
The chocolate won for me today, too. I at a 300 calorie brownie today at lunch. Don't feel like the lone ranger....the good thing is that when we wake up the next day, it is a clean slate with no mistakes on it. We always get a do over!
ReplyDeleteDon't beat yourself up. I think the band is to teach us to live in moderation. It's not like you ate a huge movie theater container of Reese's. I also find it helps if you "budget" in some calories for a small treat each day. I know if I deprived myself of that, I'd end up binging and totally blowing my calories on crap food.
ReplyDeleteDamn TOM! :) Thanks for the comment on my blog. I definitely think you're so right about making the smart choices at the drive thru. Also, I just reserved my Iphone 4 so in a few weeks I'm totally getting that app! Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteAs someone else pointed out, you did pretty good to only eat about 500 calories in chocolate! I can eat a whole bag of Reese's miniatures (pre-band), so I think you are doing really well to stop when you did!
ReplyDeleteI could also eat a whole bag of ________ before my surgery so I guess watching my calories has taught me moderation... Which I am happy for! And the clean slate like Steph said... since today is a new day and a new slate. Thanx for all your great comments and support! *M*
ReplyDeleteChocolate does often win. I can't have it in the house...or if I do, I make my hubs hide it, because essentially, I'm too lazy to search for it. Also he is tall and I am short...it deters me. My poor kids are getting a little ripped off right now in the junk food department, but really, it's better for ALL of us (I say, anyway, and I make the rules!) lol! Don't beat yourself up...this isn't like the old days...tomorrow is a BAND new day (dumb...yes...but I still laughed!)
ReplyDeleteI let the chocolate win almost every day! I love chocolste, I love peanut butter and I love me some Reese's! This is my suggestion don't put the chocolate in the enemy category. Its not you against the chocolate, so that way the chocolate never wins. You win everyday, everyday you wake up and you put one step forward. If you have a sugaraddiction like I do I would suggest you plan it into your day, make space for it in your daily calories and plan what it is you will eat. I often have a box of extra dark chocolate in my freezer and its only an extra 180 calories, oh and one reese's cup is only 100 cals so its really not that terrible in the large spectrum!
ReplyDeleteThis journey is all about balance and its so hard to find it, after a year I have yet to get there and others have been doing it for onger and still struggle, but you can and should have your cake, eat it, and lose weight too!!!
See I LOVE Reese's, and Mr. Goodbar, Snicker's Fudge... oh don't get me started on chocolate!! Everyone is allowed to have their splurges, or else if we don't give into temptation every once in a while, we are going to go into serious overkill!! So don't sweat 500 calories... I could easily do 1500 calories on just chocolate alone! lol :)
ReplyDeletewhich book are you reading?
ReplyDeleteYep were all going to have those days were something else is going to win and chocolate will be right at the top of the list. However you did very well not to beat yourself up over it. Thats a good start :)
