Seriously? Bandfree but imprisoned by hunger and cravings....

Seriously? I am not sure what this part of my journey is all about.....

  • Seriously... I am still very aware of my body just like I was with my band, but I get headaches from hunger and that is a new and annoying thing... Physical Hunger is a new and annoying thing.
  • I ate a turkey burger the other day.... with the bun. Seriously?
  • I ate 2 1/2 pancakes for breakfast yesterday.... I mean. Seriously?
  • I just ate a whole Roll last week.... Really? With Butter... Seriously? If I keep that up and I will have more Rolls, and not the Edible kind, either.
  • I have my psych appt today which is the last loop I have to jump though... to move on to the next part of my journey.
  • I don't crave sweets as much... That's a Good thing! A Really Good Thing...
  • I get Full now.... which sucks, since I forgot how uncomfortable that can be.... So I am trying to eat less but that leaves me hungry, I am not sure what to do but I'll figure it out.
  • My regular routine doesn't work as well, as it used to.... but I will get through the next 2 months somehow.
  • I have been walking alot these days.... since I am not allowed to get in the pool for a few more weeks.
  • I am trying not to slip back into all the bad habits that got me in this mess, but it is a constant fight.
  • I still didn't go to my PCP to speak to her about Appetite Suppressants, I hate taking drugs even if It might help me for the next couple months.

  1. Protein shakes...start getting used to them again now, before you undergo the next round of surgery. And they help me with suppressing my appetite..It may work :)

So proud of you for making this move! And those rolls (buns, etc) they're ok in moderation! Enjoy them while you can!

  2. One thing is certain, you're making me re-evaluate some things and making me appreciate my band more. I have gotten so used to things the way they are, and I think I'm hungry sometimes, but I know how lucky I am that I'm really not hungry like I used to be. Good luck, hang in there!

  3. I agree with Heather....protein shakes were ny saving grace to battle hunger pre-op!

  4. you are not going to be perfect in the next couple months but you will get thru it...try not to beat yourself up...accept you failures and fight back with some good choices....and only accept it 1 day at a time...otherwise it could be overwhelming! You got this

  5. Up the protein and cut out the carbs. The breads are going to make you hungrier quicker. Supplement with protein shakes. Follow the same guidlines that you did when banded. You can do it. You are allowing yourself a mental break right now... but that can turn into more pounds and more fat that you will have to work to get off... again. Hang in there. Drink tons and tons of water. You CAN do this. Make it your goal to LOSE weight between now and your surgery. ;)

  6. Welcome to the world of hell....the zone between banding and sleeve/bypass....I was warned that I would either still have restriction or the absolute opposite and a bottomless pit...I have no satiety switch off valve and I am in one hell of a mess...(re my last post)....but it will all change once I have the surgery and can refocus on the eating plan without all the hunger/issues that we are experiencing! Good luck

  8. OK...how come you had the band taken off?
Was it no longer working for you?
Good luck managing the hunger until you have the next op.

    1. Yes, It wasn't working anymore... It kept making me sick and I was plateaued for too long. I am switching to Gastric Bypass to get the rest of the way to goal.

  9. Keep doing what you can, hon. You're walking and eating pretty well! We're spoiled by having the band basically erase hunger. so of course it's going to take a while to get back into the swing of eating normally again. You'll get it. :)
